2011 Fall Fashion Trends

Mod to free spirt to classy

Summer's 70's retro styles are giving way to fall looks reminiscent of the '60"s.  Coming on strong are Peter Pan collars, Mod Squad minis, a-line dresses, double breasted pea coats, lots of graphic and geometric shapes, and fields of flowers on everything from pants and coats to leg-wear.  Find these looks at Macy's, JCPenney, Sears, Buckle, Gap and Vanity.

If you think you are seeing spots...you are.  Spots of all sizes dot every piece from dresses, skirts and shirts, to boots, hats and even hosiery.

Liquid looks, especially in metallics, sequins, and silky fabrics drip, shine and gracefully adorn the feminine form.  Experience this trend in blouses, flowing pants and especially in eveningwear from many mall stores including Maurices, Christopher & Banks, and Deb Shop.

Lace takes on a new mystique with darkened applique overlay in heavy patterns and motifs.  It is a dramatic Victorian, and at times, a gothic effect.  Pick up your favorites at JCPenney, Macy's, Sears, Christopher & Banks, Vanity, Maurices, Buckle and Deb Shop.

Shades of scarlet, cardinal and vermilion dominate the color palete with bright royal blue and snowy white also making a strong showing.  Also look for traditional and bold new tartans available at Eddie Bauer, Macy's, JCPenney, and CJ Banks.

Animal prints are the new neutral showing up in tops, dresses, outerwear and accessories.

Greatly expanding everywoman's wardrobe selection are colorful bottoms replacing tried and true dark-colored pants.  Saturated hues of cropped, flared, tapered and high waisted pants can be combined with tops and jackets already in your closet.

Outerwear  is no longer an afterthought, with coat selection becoming a planned element in each silhouette.  Look for duster coats in black and greys, bold tomato red and deep violets, pared with textured, filmy separates.  Psychedelic furs in outerwear add color and fun.  Super Luxe and practical parkas and bombers are designed for day and evening looks.  Capes and ponchos with traditional styling, as well as glammed out treatments warm up fall fashions.

Other statements this season include leather skirts from Gap and Sears, paired with casual-chic tops, sweatshirts and sweaters.  Front, back and side slits in skirts and dresses, trend from conservative to sexy, to extreme.  Evening looks feature tuxedo dressing with traditional white shirt, bright shirt, or sans-shirt under tuxedo jacket can be found at Tip, Top Tux and JCPenney.
